Kidzfest was a children’s entertainment festival featuring live shows, television characters and costumed entertainers. It gave families additional entertainment alongside the park’s regular rides and attractions.
Visitors could meet characters such as Fred Flintstone and Huckleberry Hound, while fairy-costumed performers greeted families around the park. These encounters gave children opportunities to interact with the entertainers and pose for photographs.
Also promoted as Kidsfest, the event formed part of the park’s special events calendar. The 1996 festival had an advertised opening date of 31 March, while the 1997 season extended from 28 March to 25 May. Later editions took place at other times of the year, including November 2002.
The November 2002 programme featured a series of weekend character shows. The Barney the Dinosaur Show was scheduled for 16 and 17 November, followed by the Barbie Show on 23 and 24 November and the Bart Simpson Show on 30 November. Thomas the Tank Engine was also promoted for appearances every weekend during the event.
A special admission offer accompanied the 2002 festival, allowing visitors with the promotional coupon to purchase adult admission at children’s prices until 30 November.
