Transylvania was the dark, gothic-themed area of Australia’s Wonderland. Its centrepiece was The Demon roller coaster, which Wonderland acquired from World Expo 88 in Brisbane (where it had operated as “Titan”) and opened to guests in 1992.
Two other notable Transylvania attractions joined later, when Hanna-Barbera Land was closed in 2002: Captain Caveman’s Clippers was relocated and renamed Galleon’s Graveyard, and Dick Dasterdly’s Flying Circus became Little Monsters Flying School.
Wonderland’s audio engineer Kent Learned wrote a detailed account of building the iconic Demon Pipe sound installation that haunted the area for years.
