Hanna-Barbera Land was one of the three original themed areas at Australia’s Wonderland, featuring rides and attractions based on Hanna-Barbera animation characters – Yogi Bear, Scooby-Doo, Fred Flintstone, Magilla Gorilla and more. Wonderland was modelled on Canada’s Wonderland, and Hanna-Barbera characters were a Taft Broadcasting / Kings Entertainment Company hallmark.
The construction photos below were taken between 19 June 1985 and 29 November 1985 – the final six months before the park opened on 7 December 1985 – and document rides being built including The Beastie wooden coaster, Dick Dastardly’s Flying Circus, Boo Boo’s Balloon Race, Captain Caveman’s Clippers, Magilla Gorilla’s Flotillas, Huckleberry Hound’s Merry-go-Round, Scooby’s Silly Stix and the surrounding theming.
